My Personal Learning Network

Prior to registering for this course, I had little knowledge of PLN's and 2.0 Web tools. My main sources of Professional Learning Networking cosisted of emailing and joing Wikkispaces and Ning for personal and educational growth. It is my belief that as educators, we must communicate and collaborate with others inorder to become lifelong learners. After viewing, " A Brave New World Wide Web", I agreed with the fact that well rounded administrators and teachers must use 2.0 Web tools and create Professional Learning Networks to enhance their professional  growth and Professional Learninging Communities in the 21st Century.

The educational world is constantly changing, therefore personal and professional growth only occurs when we embrace these changes and enter the world of technology to network and collaborate with other educators globally. developing our Personal Learning Networks can expand our own Professional Learning Communities and hopefully genrerate ideas for other educators.

I am so fortunate to have taken this course because, I will be able to be an advocate for at my school for others in creating their own Personal Learning Networks. Reading, "Empowering the 21st Century Superintendent', was very inspiring and it is a known fact that change which occurs at the top dwindels down to the bottom. On the otherhand, new branches at the bottom can encourage greater growth at the top. Knowing this, will enable me to encourage the teachers I serve to use 2.0 Web tools and create their own Professional Learning Networks within the guidelines of our district. I also plan to use blogs and podcast  to send messages and  provide professional development ot the entire learning community concerning the Reading Program.

I have enjoyed being a participant in this class and  benefited from the successes and challenges. My Professional Learning Network has expanded  from email and  Wiki to joining Twitter, creating blogs and podcasting. This has truly been a valuable learning experience!

To blog or not!

I am new at using blogs and PLNs and other social networks. I am taking a on line course with e-learning Professional Development/ALSDE that has sparked my interest in administrators using blogs and  other social networks as a means of communication and professional development. It's exciting to learn how others use this technology in their learning communities. Hey! This is my first blog.
